Why Cant We Get a Game Like Mafia 2 Again
Dream game..!!
The chronic oversaturation of the mafia in our international media has taught us much. Mafia Ii is an attempt to chronicle these teachings in game course. Fact number one: mafia men do lots of killing. Fact number ii: they like suits. Fact number three: mafiosa don't call each other mafiosa; they use the term 'wiseguys'.
I've cross-referenced facts one and two with Mafia II, and they're definitely right – a lot of killing and a lot of suits. Fact number three isn't. 'Wiseguys', with its implied streetsmarts and cunning, doesn't fit Mafia II'southward mobsters. It certainly doesn't fit the mid-level gangster the game asked me to tail early in its middle human action, who didn't have the presence of heed to check his rearview mirror equally he drove away from a literal hatchet task. Had that guy done and so, he'd take seen Sicilian-built-in WWII veteran and new-boy mobster Vito Scaletta nearly 20 feet backside, dressed in a red and white cod- Hawaiian shirt, driving a hot pink corvette with 'BUMS12' proudly displayed on the numberplate. That guy was not very wise.
Wise upward
The other guy was me, and I was trying to be too wise. Every bit Mafia Ii'south protagonist, my starting time attempt to trail the escaping mobster concluded in failure after my original motorcar choice – an inconspicuous '50s saloon – was outpaced with ease on the motorways. I only chose that car, snatched unattended with a bit of pavement minigame lockpicking, to satisfy the mission briefing, which said my mark would discover anything too obvious. Dutifully I wrested against the vehicle's slightly clunky era-specific handling to try and continue pace. Only after my AI target had pranged his own vehicle six times confronting anything and everything in his path, I realised that such forwardthinking wiseguyishness wasn't entirely necessary on my part.
That Mafia II then effectively harpoons its illusion of real life, showing its characters to exist machines acting out prescribed paths, is to its detriment. But the fact that I bought into it in the first identify is the game'due south greatest strength.
It'due south not that Vito is a sympathetic character. Returning from a war he held no moral stake in – afterwards a botched robbery, it was that or prison – he joins the local mafia, even though his mum told him not to. Naughty. From at that place on, he relies upon menace through the typical mafioso triple-threat: punching, shooting, and scary staring. Best buddy Joe occasionally dips a toe into 'comic relief' territory, but then ducks back into 'but a bit nasty' country, gets his pistol and shoots everyone in comic relief territory. Those poor clowns.
Urban center of dreams
It was the metropolis that drew me in. An amalgamation of New York'south streets and Hollywood's hills, Empire Bay is equally interactively sterile as all other 'open-earth' game-cities, but it's been coated in a veneer of dreamy credibility. Each street and hallway has a feature – a man shouting at an open window; a woman pressing her ear to a door; the sound of an argument. Information technology's easy to run across these details written down in a pattern document, but information technology gives Empire Bay a 18-carat rhythm, a pulse that Liberty City lacks. Plus, information technology helps that it is – on hefty machines – stunning. Plow upwards in the urban center in winter, and the streets are caked in snow, with layered bands of crystalline white on the untrodden paths contrasting with slush on the roads. And the lights! Even as the game transitions out of the 1940s and into the '50s, Mafia II's waxy lighting remains consistently arresting, casting pools of gold and xanthous on windscreens.
Merely at that place'due south no point to whatever of it. The city breathes and grows, irresolute as the missions span the years, simply it never moves or cries out. The game is presented in capacity, and each chapter has you wake up in your home. Vito, I can inform you, is a man who sleeps in the same vest and pants for nine years. Before the poor, smelly bugger can even become dressed, he'south hit with news and a job. The game forces you to drive to a location: once there, Vito either shoots some men, punches some men or drives to another location.
Incidental anarchy
Unless you make your ain fun, that is. I enjoyed people-watching in a city where every pedestrian and motorcar driver has the situational awareness of a frightened rabbit. Drive nigh one of the AI humans on human foot and their preset reactions kick in, launching them in a seemingly random direction. Sometimes, this would exist toward safe; more regularly, they'd hurl themselves into speeding traffic.
Having a adult female – a few moments earlier happily strolling down a sunny street – chuck herself in front of a nearby van is certainly a surprise. Having that van then swerve to try to avoid her and plow through another three pedestrians is brilliant. Having that van and so exist spotted by a constabulary car, having those police open up fire before getting squished by the panicky, claret-leaking van driver, is better than another comprehend- shooting 'kill l goons' story mission.
Mafia II is a mafia flick run once through a game grinder, and that's simultaneously the worst thing almost the game and the compliment it was developed for. In telling a story equally convincing as most Hollywood depictions of the Cosa Nostra, 2K Czech accept accomplished exactly what they intended to: only at the end does the artifice topple slightly, piling one too many game-cliché mass-battles onto the pile. But detach the story from its very familiar housings, and we're not left with much: a bit of walking, a lot of driving and too much shooting. Each is adept, but rarely superb.

Splendid game!!!
Warning: Spoilers
All in all, this game was great and deserves x/ten. Commencement of all, information technology's marvelous visually, then the plot is truly outstanding. Frankly, I can't recall seeing whatever criminal offence picture show with a script this good during the last years. Although it took me 13 hours to play it, I never had the feeling of dissatisfaction, because equally I said, the script and the game in full general is very informative and rich in everything. In this one although the police won't try to arrest you for excessive speed, but instead of that every time when you lot're defenseless hijacking and even manage to lose cops, you lot'll have to change the plate number and even change your apparel if they accept your description. Besides, you tin can get your car entirely fixed, starting with tires and catastrophe with the engine. Here we also have full of new weapons.
Talking well-nigh the plot there volition be plenty of surprises, especially if you are a fan of the first Mafia. Hoping to see another Mafia game released in the near future. Hey, there'southward no impairment in dreaming, right?
Highly enjoyable and recommended.
Tribute to Illusion Softworks. Thank you guys!!!

A game you won't forget !
Mafia II is an excellent game for those who enjoy existent time video games. In add-on it has a very enjoyable game play and creative graphics. I think one of the most interesting attributes of this game is it'south story.
The story is very strong and attractive. Information technology's more similar an astonishing playable novel! It's unpredictable and has many rises and falls and never gets boring. Dialogs are very impressive and perfectly nowadays the characters. Characters look very lively and events are so real that you can feel yourself inside the game. Characters mostly aren't separated into absolute adept and bad, some are amend and some are worse. The story tries to teach us positive lessons out of anything that happens during the game with a logical perspective. I would love it more if the story could continue a piddling further considering there were some things unfinished. Perchance information technology was one other elegant indicate that in the real world you can never cease everything. Or probably the rest will keep in the tertiary office of the game.
Houses, streets, cars, shops, decorations, cloths, accents, musics and many other things give y'all a very shut feel of living in New York 1940s. There are details everywhere which are artistically added. Traffic and pedestrian too look so alive that makes the city more than real.
Shooting is very exciting in this game. Sounds of bullets when fired are very real. Taking comprehend and furnishings of bullets on objects and people makes the battles very natural and heady. I would like it better if the number of weapons in player's coat were not unlimited and his garage could comprise fewer cars as it was a small place. Game is played under diverse weather ; wintertime, summer, war, prison etc. and each episode has a fresh activity to do. Cars are so real equally well and artistically made that makes driving enjoyable. Clothes also are and then beautiful. I love it when some parts of the apparel similar tie and coat shake and motion effectually when the actor is moving.
Birthday in my opinion, Mafia Two is fantastic game which is definitely worth playing. It tin be informative and makes enjoyable moments for you.

looking for gripping story? smooth game play? lovable characters? look no further
First of saying, I've been a fan of the Mafia series since Mafia: Lost Sky came out back in the mid 2000's only when Mafia ii came out information technology blew information technology right out of the water! The story follows a young Italian man named Vito Scaletta as him and his best friend Joe rise up into the ranks of the Mafia underworld in 1940'south/1950's Empire Bay. Throughout the story in that location are a lot of twists and revelations that will leave you thinking, also glazed with gorgeous graphics for a PS3 game. The game play is solid, the handling of the cars when driving, the shooting and finally the explosions are polish, they volition complete your gaming experience (The DLC's aren't bad either bank check them out!) Finally, you have the historic accuracy of the real life events that likewise occur in game such every bit The Rosenbergs, Eisenhower, Auschvitz etc. The Soundtrack I couldn't inquire for more great songs! A broad variation of R&B to Rock and Roll. Seriously if I oasis't convinced you lot past reading this you need to read it again! Seriously 2K well done looking forward to Mafia iii in Oct!!

Warning: Spoilers
I had a low end pc for the by few years so I had to go some low end games. Mafia 2 certainly appealed to me. I liked open world games, and I liked the whole 40s-50s theme, so I got information technology. The game is fantastic. The graphics certainly await good today, and the story, voice acting, and characters are fantastic. Probably the worst thing virtually mafia 2 is the gunplay. Information technology feels pretty awkward, but because it's 2011, I'll allow it fly, and then If you dear story rich video games, then this is your best bet. I highly recommend you become mafia two. I got information technology for 7 dollars on steam, I'g sure yous tin get it cheaper.

Enjoyed playing every minute of it merely in the stop it'south still being a disappointment.
Playing this game was a bit of a weird experience. I honestly enjoyed playing information technology only in the end the game still left a bad aftertaste.
No affair what the production companies merits; this game is certainly a GTA-clone, gear up in the 'forty'due south and '50's. It has the aforementioned game-play, similar sort of missions and a big fictional boondocks you tin can walk and ride through, while killing people, purchase clothes, or visit other shops and places. Even the map, menu options, statistics and radar seem to come straight out of the recent GTA games. But I don't heed this at all, since all of the GTA games are fantastic games to play, that provide hours of entertainment and you can play over and over again, fifty-fifty long after yous've finished its missions.
And this game almost literally copied everything out of the GTA games, except for it'south best parts. First the manner you beingness capable to pick the missions for yourself and besides deciding to play which missions when. in "Mafia Ii" you are simply not capable of doing that. It'southward story plays like a movie, so once you accept finished one mission, yous are starting the next one, until you finish the game. There are not even different missions to choose from. Then obviously this brings me to this game it'south virtually disappointing attribute; it'southward non really being a sandbox game, in which you lot can walk- or drive around freely, without having to consummate a mission. You constantly accept to consummate a certain chore then you have no time to fool around or to detect anything. Once you first fooling effectually, chances are you are going to go killed considering you crash your car or get shot by the cops. And once this happens, yous have to start a mission all over over again. This all would had all the same been OK if the game had the pick to be able to play the game in sandbox manner as well, so without any missions. This is not the case with this game, not even after yous have completed it. So the game actually doesn't has much re-playability value to information technology. When you've finished the game in that location is not much else you can do. A missed opportunity, that could had given its players days and fifty-fifty moths of fun playing information technology. And it'south non similar they couldn't had given giving this game that pick. The town'south size is there, the AI is in that location, all of the weapons, cars and other options to play around with where there, and so what was holding them dorsum? And the first Mafia game did had this option available by the way.
Instead now you are capable of completing this game inside a day. It took me 16 hours but that was with lots of fooling around. To be honest I didn't even realized I had finished the game, till the end credits suddenly started to whorl. Certain, the last mission is a bit harder than the other ones simply there was nothing else indicating that this was going to be the concluding mission.
Guess this is besides due to the manner the story of the game is getting told. It follows a flake of a confusing story in terms of that it's not actually wrapping upward things. At times you but don't know anymore who you are working for and who is supposed to be the enemy or your friends. Characters like your sister and a potential dear-interested disappear out of the game completely later a while, even though they nonetheless could had done far more and better things with them. Also the main character that you are playing is very gullible. For example One guy tells him to kill someone yous don't even know but the main character always obeys without thinking or protesting.
Still it'southward a game that really plays like a pic, which is mostly due to its story. Information technology'due south the foremost reason why I still enjoyed playing it. You really get the character out of a gangster moving-picture show, and then this ways you don't always demand to do any shooting or driving only also sell cigarettes from the back of a truck and even go to prison. I dear this game for that arroyo. Also when you lot follow a person or car and yous loose them, you wait that it means that you have failed your mission but it'south actually a part of the game, so you lot don't ever succeed at everything, which works realistic and refreshing.
It'southward also refreshing that for a alter the vocalism-cast didn't consists out of large well known Hollywood names. It frequently works distracting within games.
The game-play is nice and the game learns you fast what yous are all capable off and how all of the buttons work. And so you don't need to be an hardened gamer to play information technology. I also loved how the activity worked. You tin can't just barge in and smash away everyone only you always take to take cover, or yous are going to get killed for sure.
The graphics are great looking. It's ameliorate looking than whatever of the GTA games simply yet it's running way smoother and with often more than details in it too. The AI is quite good and enemies rarely practise the aforementioned things, when you play certain missions all over over again.
This game is notorious for having many bugs in information technology. I encountered one big i, which forced me to quit playing and to beginning a chapter all again, since the game doesn't work with save files merely with chapters, that are sort of levels and an option to go on playing the game were you left of, which is plain non handy once you encounter a bug that makes you lot incapable of completing a certain mission.
In the end even so a disappointment but the hours that you are playing it, you lot are probably gonna dear it.

The best video game I've ever played!
Mafia 2 is probably the best video game I've ever played. I was a slap-up fan of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven and information technology remains ane of the best games ever made. But yet, in comparing, despite many people or critics, I plant this 1 far more perfect. The game will still be corking if y'all oasis't played the offset i, just if y'all take, you volition make the best of it.
Something that amazed me in this game was the perfect story full of unexpected surprises. The Gameplay was as well good along the rest of the game, but because only the Gameplay, it may non the best video game for me. The visuals are besides outstanding.
It doesn't brand sense to me to see people compare this to games such as Grand Theft Machine. GTA serial are fun, but mafia and GTA are separate worlds. Mafia is not a blazon of game that you play for hours and hours and yet every chapter is the repetition of the previous i. Looking for a game like that, you may find this as well brusk or express.
No vote less than 10 volition satisfy me most this one.

An Honest Review
Well, this game is PAINFULLY brusk and in dire need of side missions and busy work, peculiarly given that it takes identify in the 40s and 50s and does a great chore of making y'all feel like y'all are in the 40s and 50s. Information technology is a world that y'all want to explore and live in for a while, it'due south a beautiful world, and the game is too fast.
Information technology needs padding, it needs to extend itself a lilliputian, or a lot, so yous can actually alive in that earth for a chip longer than a COVID weekend.
But... it has some things that make it stand up near GTA.
The showtime is the lock picking method, which adds to the game both in realism and fun. Peculiarly since I have a friend who is a lock picker (which is the most useful friend to have in the world), who does it competitively. He has Youtube videos of picking locks, central and combination, to a timer. And, I guess for a video game the chief of how information technology'south done is sound, merely the execution is not. So, I estimate if you lot are going for pure realism it's l/l.
Only if you don't like information technology you can just pause the windows.
In whatever instance, it'due south a overnice addition.
As is the speedometer... and why GTA has never added information technology is beyond me. Just the fun there is that you will become the cops on you, and you lot will get ticketed if you are driving too fast... which, over again, GTA needs to add. And it comes with a prophylactic bulldoze mode that you can turn on and off to assure that you don't speed too much.
Vito, your graphic symbol looks similar a cross between Pacino and DeNiro in the godfather movies (more Bobby than Al) which, again, is fun.
The winter setting in the 40s is cute. The summer setting in the 50s is beautiful, and both really have you to the decades they portray, right down to the radio segments and the news with commentary about the Rosenbergs that is brutal, nighttime, and hysterical... making the car radio feel similar what L.A. Noire wanted only never accomplished.
The first real mission back in the US tells you exactly what you demand to practice to mine every bit much money as y'all want (which also allows you lot to strop your lock picking skills) and make enough to assure that you are prepare to buy whatever you demand for coming missions.
Ammo is express, which is a dainty add together, and information technology draws the need to buy agree out weapons and really stock up earlier yous get-go some missions.... which is another thing it has over GTA where yous seem to ever have more ammo than you possibly need.
And the cars and driving handle not bad.
However, information technology is FAR likewise brusque, peculiarly given how keen they made the earth and the sense you got for being back in the 40s and 50s.
And the shooting is... uninspired. Information technology'due south not done desperately, it's only uninspired.
And, frankly, the game is glitchy. Which means in a few missions yous accept to die over and over over again until you lot figure out your way effectually the glitches.
But, all of that is mote when compared to the power to be in a different era and believably and so... I but wish the game was longer, that there were more side missions and decorated piece of work to allow y'all to explore it more than completely.

The offer you lot can't pass up

An offer you tin can't reject...
So this is Mafia 2. There aren't very many games out at that place such as these. This is a sandbox game a lot similar GTA V only set in the gilded age of American society when marijuana was warned to people as being an indigenous peoples toxicant. You play in a replica of New York city. Yous get-go from the bottom coming back from world war ii to your domicile of Empire Bay. Then, yous will in the end become a mafia human or made homo. At that place is Mafia and Mafia 3, I only have Mafia ii and Mafia 3 for now. You can play most of the game in single player campaign without having to fart around in diners, automobile panel beaters etc... etc.... If you play the DLC (downloadable content) it gets fifty-fifty better, You lot don't take to waste fourth dimension in places where you would exist more than useful somewhere else. Steal cars, kill people, blow upward trucks and impale a don or two nearer the end. I think there are downsides. Cars can be rather difficult to bulldoze and sometimes the shooting in the game has a hit detection trouble only, all the same, a passable encompass arrangement for the most role. I bought Mafia three from EB for simply x dollars. Merely purchase it given the toll. I hope 2K games will release something again similar to this but if they tin. I retrieve gamers would enjoy information technology. I am not besides familiar with 2K games still. I downloaded the other DLC just haven't played it notwithstanding I recall I might move on to something else and come up dorsum to that later on. Bada-bing-bada-blast.

Gofather meet goodfellas
The game'due south plot like is basically a mixture of the Godfather, and Goodfellas, y'all're a war hero, come up back from the war and fall into a life of crime with your friend. The open world nature of this game is not the same as GTA, which to me is a good thing, in that location aren't a million half-assed mini-games to play. Each section of the urban center feels different, Cathay-town feels dissimilar than Little Italia. I'yard not going to list whatever spoilers but I do feel similar this plot is decent, the voice acting is pretty good for the most function, the in-automobile conversations are pretty humorous a lot of the time. The driving is a HUGE improvement over the first game, the cars experience like real cars would from the 40s that is spongey break and sluggish dispatch, this is cracking design, it'south how the actual cars behaved back then. The map is actually displayed in the radar instead of the lame "map" that's in the first game.
The guns are all fun, though the pistols pretty much all seem the aforementioned power, even the magnum (and the magnum sound a trivial goofy, like a cartoon gun). There is an actual cover organization in the game, and overall the fights are much improved over the first game. This is a corking game, information technology'due south heavy on graphics bill of fare, so I recommend looking into mods on how to disable the physics of the article of clothing in the game.
Overall it's an fantabulous Game with a very good story and gameplay

Better than nearly GTA's
This may be an unpopular stance only upon replaying Mafia 2 with the recently released Definitive edition a wave of laughter and great gameplay ensued and reminded me why I always remembered this game as one of the best I've ever played. It's not got a bigger map than GTA, infact it relatively small-scale. It's not got better graphics than GTA infact they're not great. It's non got every bit many missions or things to do equally GTA, Infact its a very linear story with only limited ability to explore. So what makes its only and so proficient? The atmosphere that gives you lot a realistic await into 1950's America. The amazing characters and their unique personalities. The small things like pedestrians falling over on the ice making you laugh everytime you meet some poor guy fall. The music of the era that I personally oasis't heard in any other games, from the famous song "permit it snow" to crazy songs like 'open the door Richard' and i where the singer is singing near "everybody eats when they come to my house" and lines like "the bolgnae Tony" which makes y'all express mirth and sing along at the aforementioned fourth dimension. The missions.... The swell mix of missions keeps its fresh and the overall gunplay for me is perfect, that splendid blend of difficulty to observe the target while also using a semi active lock on organization works great. No review will do the game justice its truly something you need to have or will experience for yourself merely for me it's hands... Very hands, in my Top 5 best games of all fourth dimension.

From the biggest fan of Mafia I....
Mafia: The city of Lost Sky is for me the greatest game ever made. Information technology has everything, from great missions to incredible storytelling and some awesome quotes from the chief character.
That being said of course my expectations to Mafia Ii were high and I mean extremely loftier.
In the minute I started to play the game, I was only stunned by the graphics. It's nigh like your decision-making a real human being. A smashing idea which I had been missing from sandbox style games was winter time. This besides looked amazing.
Game play was pretty good as well. Zilch bad can be said about the activeness. Driving was also made pretty fun, particularly great was driving with a lorry, which was fabricated very hard to stop. Similary to terminal GTAs, you could climb which made the game more enjoyable.
The story gave me mixed feelings. It was a good i but not that corking as I would have expected. It was slightly darker than Mafia I, had lots of betraying etc, but this brought quite a large downside for the game likewise, which I am going to talk about later. Many videos made were great but in the end gave the game too much of a film feeling which didn't experience very corking.
The really bad thing was that Vito only wanted to improve his life and he really didn't care for whom he was working and then did Joe. This made the couple disloyal and not much of a mafioso type. They were rather just thugs. This converted the game into a GTA mode game, but it sticked to Mafia I roots where you had to complete the missions linearly also. I felt like a GTA was stuck in Mafia style of plot if yous know what I mean.
Also an ordinary routine, which was all over the game, started to get abrasive. Even though information technology added some realism, you can't say information technology was very interesting.
GTA influenced clothing and gun shopping wasn't bad. The car piece of work shops topped that which were made way better than in GTA series.
But in that location's more negative. Some things what made Mafia I incredibly realistic were left behind because of an unknown reason. These include running through cherry-red lights punishment, limitation of how many weapons could be carried and lost bullets when reloading a weapon.
As well I felt Mafia II somehow unfinished. Zippo actually came out of an human relationship between the daughter who had winked Vito sometimes and was one time saved by him, or what happened to Vito'southward sister.
Missions could have been more interesting as well like they were in the starting time game. In here you by and large just listened to your assignment, then collection to the place and whacked all the bad guys. Nothing really interesting wasn't; for example in Mafia I: Y'all lucky bounder where Sergio Morello always managed t survive dissimilar attacks or when you lot shot a man at his birthday in public.
Of course we all miss freeride and the matter that made Mafia I a very special game - freeride extreme.
And of class the game was too short as well. Some TLCs have been released, only the primary story should be still far greater than it was.
So to conclude - I believe this game could have been improve, although I definitely don't regret playing it. It's still a practiced action game, bringing in some innovation to the genre but failed to be equally exciting every bit Mafia I for me at to the lowest degree. I would recommend it to play once, but the high expectations will likely be shattered by doing that.
So all in all I requite it vii out of 10.

Classic in the Genre
The story and the setting of the game is great. I loved this game the starting time fourth dimension I played it as information technology was my favourite out of all three of the Mafia serial. It's neat progression of Vito (the main protagonist) into the law-breaking families was really well told. The world was a nice groundwork of the setting of what looked like New York with fantastic soundtrack of its time. The game is not an open up world game so practise non wait to have much more to it rather than doing mission afterward mission, you tin can still roam the world merely not do much in it. The auto and police gameplay is really realistic and elevation notched. The game had not aged well every bit the game play was a bit clunky the second time I played information technology, thankfully a remastered version came out a while ago, so the game play has been improved and holds upward better to the standards nowadays. I recollect anybody should feel this classic of a game especially if you like the setting of the mafia in America belatedly 20th century (well in this case middle 20th)

One of the best games I've played in quite a while
Mafia 2 is just another GTA clone, that being said, I recall it's a lot of fun. I'one thousand going to separate this review up in sections and work out an boilerplate score afterward.
Gameplay- The game-play is great; the shoot-outs are very unique as you're required to take encompass a lot and plan how you're going to tackle the gun fights equally oppose to your typical video game shoot-out in which y'all but run out, impale 100 people and go shot 100 times and still alive. In M2 you lot die after getting shot about 3/iv times making gun fights more realistic than a lot of other battles in other games. The car chases are also a lot of fun although at that place aren't really that many, which may make the game ameliorate because this game never once get's repetitive. Most other sandbox games on the Xbox 360/ PS3 Practise become repetitive somewhere down the line and they tend to seem to drag on such as Red dead redemption. Don't go me wrong RDR is a great game simply the terminal x missions or and then with the exception of the very final one were just boring and stale to exist honest. Mafia two doesn't fail hither though and that'southward definitely 1 of the best things about it. 9/10.
Graphics- Pretty good on the whole. I don't think the cut-scenes were equally realistic every bit we expected just the city is great and it looks awesome and the cars look quite nice as well, aught special, but quite squeamish. Another good matter about the graphics is the fact that in that location aren't that many glitches and bugs, there are a few but I didn't find them often. 8/x
Sound- Not much to say here but the sound's fantastic; Bang-up voice acting, great SFX and an awesome 40'due south/ l's soundtrack that makes you experience as if you really live in that era. Can't mistake it. x/10
Length- This is the worst part; the game took me nigh 12 hours to complete and there'southward no side-missions or multi-thespian so the final mission is the end of it really and I couldn't assist but feel cheated. 5/10
Average score 8/x
2K did a great chore all in all and I definitely recommend this game unfortunately though it merely doesn't last that long. That beingness said though at that place is some make new DLC coming out which are entirely new games similar to GTA: The lost and damned, which hopefully volition make this peachy experience a fiddling longer.

Sleeps with the fishes
Y'all are Vito(Pasqualone, does what he can with the tiresome fabric), and you refuse to become your father: breaking his back working on the dock, drinking himself to decease. The man did leave his family $2000 in debt, which yous accept to repay. While this is your initial reason for joining the mob, the luxury information technology allows soon becomes all you care about. There'south no remorse for any of the awful things you have to practice... people like this do, and did, be, that doesn't hateful we desire to spend much time in their head. There's exactly one grapheme that isn't a tiring paper-thin cutout, and that'south your buddy Joe(Costanzo, likable). He's thankfully the one y'all spend the most time with. And yet no option to play this co-op, much less MP. Betrayal, murder, smuggling. There are twists. Nonetheless, you don't desire to come across what happens next in this. Yous're given no reason to care, it's never compelling, and once yous accomplish the ending, which is and so many different shades of lame, you lot wonder why you even got into this at all.
This has truly cinematic cutscenes, carefully "filmed" and cut. There are some very Scorsese mobster movie montages. Luckily a lot of them tin exist skipped, because some go long, and sometimes even when it ends, you're non doing anything interesting. This is not fix during the prohibition and Depression. Rather, it's later on, during WWII, and in the 50's. It tells you when time has passed, which is adept, because nobody ages in this. This is sometimes romanticized, other times tragic, with a lot of ugly details. It is bloody, and in that location is lots of casual strong language. The F-words and such feel out of place, and there are ones that are far more recent. "It should sound similar modern language, and so we 'know what they mean'"? The rest of this isn't, non even merely that aspect. The authenticity is thorough. It immerses you in the period setting. That does remain the principal shortcoming of these: it'll never exist GTA. No boats, helicopters, bikes, RPGs, etc. Here, the metropolis itself has near nothing for you to practise in the many too like areas, you lot tin can barely explore since you're never "off work", and you're even given what yous might piece of work for. Why get and then close so reject to compete?
A lot about this is more than fun and less frustrating than the showtime one. All the same, it also gets rid of almost everything that made it keen. It ends upwardly tremendously bland and unimpressive. There are more and bigger types of guns, including extremely rare addictive use of an MG 42. None of them are useless. The shotgun is non weak, albeit information technology almost ends up like a rifle. That's practically the only ane you won't simply go by picking up what those yous kill drib. Y'all thus never truly worry nearly ammo. They most might likewise not have bothered with stores for them. And why does information technology say "bring a piece", as if I had a option in the matter? At least you're not forced to starting time with just a single pistol, and no style to choose otherwise. And in the age of "one chief and a secondary", this lets you carry, and even hide, each of them at the same fourth dimension! Yous can take autonomously some forest and glass, as well equally tires... this comes upward then rarely that you wonder why they put information technology in at all. Because they could? Grenades and molotovs remain. Stunlocking is gone. 3 body shots or 1 to the head will go the job washed. This adds a comprehend mechanic, and conforming the residual of this, it's only average. Duck a lot since they don't tend to flank. And watch for friendlies deciding to run in front. The melee is back, though fists only, no longer bat/pocketknife/crowbar/brass knuckles/etc. Information technology's now detailed: you hit low-cal or difficult. There are brutal finishers and a take hold of: these are prompted, as you couldn't otherwise tell. You can taunt. And there's a dodge, which requires no timing: just hold it. You can counter. This badly needs a block-pause. There's not a lot of fighting. But considering how limited and samey it is, in that location is besides much of it, relatively speaking.
There are far less cars in this, as in, 30-40 compared to basically 100, meanwhile, it does away with about all the useless ones. Treatment is decent. Y'all can store 10 in your clearly-too-small-scale-for-that garages, always 1 where you live, all of which share the same ones. No, that makes no sense, and breaks the realism the balance of this works so hard to create and maintain. There are four vehicle angles, including front bumper or left bicycle, and a 360 degree costless camera, which is the 1 y'all have when on foot. Missions lack the creativity of setup of the previous one, and all run together into a grey mass of meh. You lot're rarely doing something fun. You may start, and end, any given i past going betwixt the 3rd flooring and the exterior of not merely your own, no, besides your buddy'due south apartment, driving to and from, instead of simply, you know, getting to the point already. Lockpicking is done via a tumbler. You lot have to fix three pins, one at a time, and messing up one costs you lot any you'd already done. You push information technology up and release it, grabbing it when it glows light-green. Beware of gravity! It is the only mini-game/QTE, then in places that could concur those, you're instead standing, pressing Use, and, maybe, if you lot carry, you'll get to take a few steps in a pre-determined direction. Yippee. Please restrain me I'k so excited about this.
In addition to what I've already mentioned, there is a lot of casual sexuality and nudity in this. I recommend this only to the select few who want the original game done worse equally long as it's more accessible. 4/10

It'due south not bad, it's merely too limited
People anticipated this game for a long time. Release almost 8 years later got quite a lot of hopes up for many improvements and new kind of mafia experience.
The truth turned out quite different. I'chiliad maxim now - this game is past no means bad, vii is a decent score as well.
The introduction of characters were very proficient, the chief one shortly became very likable. A proper game play tutorial was too very expert and you could become used to things very easily.
The story is besides very good, with its twists and emotional moments, equally much as hardcore activeness and reflection of gangster life. A possibility to rob stores and ransom the police added a overnice feeling to the whole parcel. Bunch of people complained about the driving being likewise difficult and chaotic, but in fact information technology's actually a dainty change from the arcady affair that'southward been going on for similar, forever... The gun play felt really powerful, the cover system was good - non perfect, but in fact quite decent. The vocalism interim was great, though the game has strong language (if anyone is worried about that).
Simply there were as well many issues with the game. Overall game play was too curt, a pair of extra missions wouldn't accept harmed anyone. All the money you earned couldn't exist spent, cause you could easily rob stores and get complimentary stuff (if yous pleased). There were promotional videos about the game and cuttings to show what it would expect like, merely much of the stuff was cut from the terminal version, leaving many people (me involved) dissatisfied. Virtually of this stuff was side-missions - even in the first game at that place was something yous could practice bated from the main objectives, and this game but screamed for extra activities.
Likewise, the chapter idea lost the feeling of costless roam, crusade role player is attached to the main story line. After your objective is completed, there just isn't anything else to do.
Overall it is a decent game 7/ten, but it just lacks side-missions/activities which prevents me from giving it a higher score...

I detest to say it but; Information technology's disappointing in every style.
Alert: Spoilers
The original Mafia game released in 2002 is one of my all time favourite games. To this day I will nonetheless play information technology one time and a while. Because it is a continuous story and non exactly Free Roam, it feels almost like watching a motion picture while playing the game. The original game, had fantabulous characters that you lot cared about, great activeness scenes, interesting missions, classic cars from the 30'southward that were a lot of fun to bulldoze, superb physics for its fourth dimension; you could riddle a machine with bullets and it would be completely covered with bullet holes, blast windows, shoot out tires, break the fuel line and run out of gas in the auto, shoot from the driver's seat (which was the commencement game you could practice that to my recollection), the list goes on...the only affair that upset me was the final cut-scene of the game has your graphic symbol gunned downward on his front backyard by two striking men. So in the end your character dies tragically. But of course he paid the cost for his actions.
At present for Mafia II...starts off during WWII, then a fair clamper of the game takes place in 1945 when you return from the war, then get sent to prison house, and so jump to 1951. You go out of prison and get right back into the life of criminal offence. Yous start off as a low-level thug, doing petty jobs...which continues for a very large clamper of the game, until you lot go a made man. Then, almost immediately afterward yous become made, you start doing things that are forbidden in the Mafia (at the fourth dimension.) it is conspicuously stated by i of the bosses that you don't deal in drugs. All the same yous exercise it anyways and through a course of action, create a major sh#tstorm between the Chinese and your mob faction. And so you're basically targeted for death, only you lot're offered a chance to relieve yourself past murdering your boss. Your graphic symbol just shrugs and says okay. All of the characters in this game are under-developed. The missions play so fast, and NONE stand out as being unique. All verrry generic. The story is lacking, other than Vito and Joe, all the characters seem to come and go without getting much "screen time" so you don't get to care about whatsoever of them. Vito (your character) is just a douchebag. I didn't like him at all when watching the story and Joe could exist funny, but he was as well obnoxious, so I didn't warm to him either. As for the ending of the game? Well in that location isn't ane. It just stops in the centre of a cut-scene, more than or less like the end of The Sopranos. I assume they're releasing some add together-on content to continue the story. The trouble is, I wasn't interested enough to fork over whatever extra cash towards this game. If they continue the story with Mafia 3, they improve make some significant improvements...oh and I forgot to mention, there's also a mission which but has yous driving to a guy's house and activating a cut-scene...that cut-scene is the catastrophe to the original game, which has you killing your character from the original game. So now, your current character only murdered a graphic symbol I really warmed to. But there's goose egg else to the mission except escaping cops, which requires you to drive about a block earlier y'all lose them.

Dandy Game but with flaws
Mafia 2 is an epic game with tons of fun. It is mainly set later on globe war 2. Vito Scaletta our main protagonist comes dwelling afterward world war 2 and gets involved in the mafia business organisation of New York Metropolis.
The greatest thing about this game is its story. The story is beautifully written and it has a lot of humor in information technology as well. The Chemistry between Vito and Joe is funny and satisfying. It has other likable characters such every bit Henry and Leo Galante. The story has some twists and turns which are quite decent. Some part of its story is kind of a slog and the main story is kinda brusque.
Gameplay-wise mafia ii is fine. With some weapons and it has much hand-to-hand combat and the destructive environment physics is wonderful being released in 2010.
The number of songs that you can listen to is incredible as well and the voice acting is top-notch.
The downside is that at that place isn't much to do around and you can get bored and at that place is a lot of driving as well and mainly it is a kinda short game. There are Some glitches as well but overall it is a great game considering its well-written humorous dialogues and characters and nice developing story which a little bit connects to Mafia 1.

Inaccuracies for the period!!
Warning: Spoilers
I'one thousand a big fourth dimension gamer gal & I agree with sever of the comments about the issues with the game & information technology being short! The biggest problems are the inaccuracies!! Information technology's a fictional story set in a fictional city during a existent life time!! Y'all showtime off in Italia during the liberation & that was 1943! The main character comes abode some time later on on & some cast say he just come back from Italy! We had been out of Italian republic long before February of 45 when chapter three starts his first day home!! There is also a scene where Steve is reading a playboy in 1945!! Playboy's kickoff effect came out Dec of 53!!!
It's these kinds of inaccuracies that ruin whatever game, show or movie!! If yous are going to exercise a fictional story in a fictional location, and then make information technology completely fictional & leave out what happened in real life!! The definitive version allows y'all to cross some content of the other two games if you lot own all three!! You tin can drive a machine from office 3 from the lx's & even wear clothes from that era!! Anyhow, outside of the soundtrack that has some great Jazz singers of the time, this is the worst of the three!! Mafia 3 is the best of the series!!
